Does your phone support eSIM?

Type your model - for example 'iPhone 13', 'Pixel 7a' or 'Galaxy S22'. We'll tell you whether it can install a travel eSIM.

Two things to confirm before you buy

  1. eSIM chip. Dial *#06# - an EID line means yes.
  2. Carrier unlock. A phone still locked to your home carrier cannot install a travel eSIM. Unlocks are free and usually take minutes.

Frequently asked

Does my iPhone support eSIM?
Every iPhone from the XS and XR onward supports eSIM. US models of the iPhone 14 and newer are eSIM-only - there is no physical SIM tray at all.
Does my phone need to be unlocked?
Yes. A phone locked to a carrier cannot install a third-party travel eSIM. Ask your carrier for a free unlock before you travel.
How do I check eSIM support on my phone?
On iPhone open Settings → Cellular and look for 'Add eSIM'. On Android open Settings → Network & internet → SIMs and look for 'Download a SIM instead'. You can also dial *#06# - if an EID number appears, your phone has an eSIM chip.
Can I use an eSIM and my normal SIM at the same time?
Yes. Dual SIM lets you keep your home number for calls and texts while the travel eSIM carries data. Just turn off data roaming on the home line.
Do Samsung Galaxy phones support eSIM?
Galaxy S20 and newer, all Z Fold and Z Flip models, Note 20 and recent A-series phones support eSIM in most markets. A few US carrier variants ship with eSIM disabled, so check Settings → SIM manager.
Which Google Pixel phones support eSIM?
Pixel 3 and every model after it support eSIM. The one known exception is the Verizon-sold Pixel 3.
Does my iPad or tablet support eSIM?
Cellular iPads from 2018 onward support eSIM, as do several cellular Galaxy Tab models. Wi-Fi-only tablets have no cellular modem and cannot use one.
What is an EID number?
The EID is the unique serial of your phone's embedded SIM chip. Dial *#06# - if an EID line appears alongside the IMEI, your phone has eSIM hardware.
How do I unlock my phone for a travel eSIM?
Contact your home carrier and request a device unlock. If the phone is paid off and the account is in good standing, unlocks are free and usually complete within a couple of days.
Can I install the eSIM before I travel?
Yes, and you should. Install it on home Wi-Fi so any problem is solved before you fly - the plan normally starts counting only when it connects abroad.
